A few problems that people have encountered, and how to fix them quickly and easily …

- Want the lower price for repeat customers but can’t remember old username or password, or
- Username or password problems when accessing the order system, or
- Can’t access the order system
2. PIN doesn’t work, or phone/PIN combination does not work.
3. Problems downloading, or don’t know how to download the software, or
- I downloaded the software but can’t find it on my computer now, or
- Don’t know the difference between download and install
4. Problems installing or don’t know how to install the software
5. AUTHMEMBER ID error message when going through Account Login
6. MFC Application error message when running the software
1. CAN’T REMEMBER MY USERNAME OR PASSWORD TO GET REPEAT CUSTOMER PRICE
THE SYSTEM SAYS MY USERNAME OR PASSWORD IS ALREADY TAKEN
Relax. We have multiple ways to identify returning customers, including name, address and phone. Make up a new username and password. Just fill out the order form like a new customer, and you should get the $89 price. When you click “Add to Cart” you will see the price before going to Checkout. If it says $129 just send an email to Admin@john.benson.com and we will set up the system to recognize you. If you go through checkout and get charged $129 accidentally before you realize what’s happening, we will refund the difference as soon as you email us a copy of your web receipt.
2. PIN NUMBER / PHONE NUMBER COMBINATION DOESN’T WORK
In the last three years, 100% of reported PIN problems were caused by one of two user errors: trying a new PIN to run an older version of the software, or entering the wrong phone number. The 2013 software says “2013 Version” on the first screen. Anyone can download and start the new software without a PIN. You don’t need your new PIN until you want to read a new player database. So start the software and see what version it is. Make sure you have the new software that says “2013 Version.” Or check the date on your file windraft.exe – if it is older than November 2012, you are not yet running the new software.
Your phone number ID is often the same old original phone number that you gave when you first bought the software on line. If your current phone number doesn’t work, try an old phone number that you may have used to run the software. If your phone number worked when running old software in the past, even if it was a mistake back then, e.g. a typo. That old phone number may be locked into the system and you will need to remember it. Email Admin@johnbenson.com if you can’t remember your phone number.
3. DON’T KNOW HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE SOFTWARE,
DOWNLOADED THE SOFTWARE BUT CAN’T FIND IT ON MY COMPUTER
New customers: if you did not yet buy the software, please try to access, download and install the free demo. If you cannot do that, then you are not going to be able to use our software. Please do not buy the software if you cannot run the free demo.
Returning customers: slow down and notice the options that your web browser gives you to SAVE a file from the internet. One of those options will be: Where do you want to put the file on your computer. Desktop is a good choice. Downloads is a good choice. Whatever choice you make, just notice it and remember it.
If you have any doubts, consult your web browser help screens and help index. You need to know the basics of how to use your web browser to download files from the internet.
What you do is download an “install” file from this website. The install file will have a filename with a date, for example 04_14_13.exe and the file will have a .exe suffix. This file will install and unpack several files onto your local computer. Once you have downloaded the install file onto your computer, you are done using our website and you are done using the internet. Everything else happens on your computer. You may disconnect from the internet. You do not run the software on the internet. You run the software on your computer.
The install file serves both your initial purchase and later access when you download a newer install file to get the a new database. Running the newer install file will not interfere with your league files or freeze lists etc.
If all else fails, please try reading the download and installation instructions that you find on the Download page.
You must know how to download a file from the internet, using your web browser, and how to find a file on your computer after you have downloaded it. If you need help, consult your web browser user’s manual or contact their tech support. Johnbenson.com and Diamond Analytics Corp do not offer training in how to use your web browser to download files or how to find files on your computer after you have downloaded them onto your computer.
4. DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED BUT CANNOT FIND THE NEW SOFTWARE ON MY COMPUTER
CANNOT FIND THE NEW DATABASE
Just start over. You can download again and install again, and again, and pay closer attention to where you are putting the new software on your computer. The main thing is to go slowly enough to notice everything you are telling your computer to do. If you mess up, you can start over. Download again if necessary. Install again if necessary. Choosing a new directory folder and remembering what you chose will often be a good idea. For example:
or whatever the latest version is.
Run Setup Wizard for the 2013 version.
make a new directory folder BENSON13
finish the install and run the 2013 version. Leave the check mark in the “run” box.
i.e. do not exit the install process without going directly through RUN
use myleague League to get started
enter your phone number in the three boxes left to right
enter your PIN in the PIN box
and it works.
5. “AUTHMEMBER ID” ERROR MESSAGE WHEN RETRIEVING YOUR PIN OR ACCESS INFO:
Going through Account Login under Members Only, you get to the main page, and it says:
Click on “Account” above to get your PIN or access info,
And then when you click on “Account” you get an alarming error message with the words:
“Element authmember ID is undefined in session …” and a bunch of technical codes.
Don’t worry. You can still get your access information easily and quickly. Just back up two clicks to home page johnbenson.com and go through Account Login again. Sometimes it takes two or three tries. This problem is rare and easily fixable just by backing up and re-entering.
6. “MFC APPLICATION” MESSAGES:
MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class) application messages are generated by your Microsoft Windows ® operation system, not by Benson software. MFC application messages can be caused by factors aside from what kind of software you were trying to use when the error message appears. These messages cover a wide variety of possible problems and may use a wide variety of words, such as:
